Yellow 157 CAS 27908-75-4
Introduction
Solvent Yellow 157 is an organic dye, also known as Direct Yellow 12. Its chemical name is 3-[(2-Chlorophenyl)azo]-4-hydroxy-N,N-bis(2-hydroxyethyl)aniline, and the chemical formula is C19H20ClN3O3. It is a yellow powdery solid.
Solvent Yellow 157 is mainly used as a Solvent-based dye, which can be dissolved in organic solvents, such as acetone, alcohol and ether solvents. It can be used to dye products such as plastics, resins, paints, coatings, fibers and inks. It can also be used for dyeing candles and wax trays.
The method for preparing Solvent Yellow 157 is usually by reacting 2-chloroaniline and 2-hydroxyethylaniline, and performing a coupling reaction under appropriate conditions. The reaction product was crystallized and filtered to give pure Solvent Yellow 157.
For safety information, the Solvent Yellow 157 is potentially hazardous. It may cause irritation to the eyes, skin and inhalation, so use appropriate protective measures, such as wearing protective gloves and glasses. In addition, avoid inhaling dust and operate in a well-ventilated place.
