Mechanism of action
Vepatasvir is a novel hepatitis C virus (HCV) NS5A inhibitor. The NS5A protein plays a key role in the replication, assembly, and release of HCV, and vepatasvir plays an anti-HCV role by binding to the NS5A protein to prevent the replication and spread of the virus. In addition, it is also an inhibitor of SARS-CoV 3CLpro with an IC50 of 2.16 μM.
Clinical application
Vepatasvir is often used in combination with drugs such as sofosbuvir to treat hepatitis C. Clinical studies have shown that the combination of vepatasvir with other drugs has good efficacy against different genotypes of HCV infection, can significantly improve the cure rate of patients, and is safe and well tolerated, with relatively few side effects.
