Introduction
S-(-)-2-chloropropionic acid is an organic compound. The following is an introduction to its properties, uses, manufacturing methods and safety information:
Properties: S-(-)-2-chloropropionic acid is a colorless liquid with a pungent odor. It is soluble in water and ethanol and insoluble in ether. At room temperature, it has a moderate vapor pressure.
Uses: S-(-)-2-chloropropionic acid is commonly used as a reagent, catalyst and intermediate in organic synthesis.
Preparation method: There are two main preparation methods of S-(-)-2-chloropropionic acid. One method is to obtain a sodium salt of S-(-)-2-chloropropionate by the reaction of phenylsulfonyl chloride and sodium ethanol albutan, and then acidify it to form the target product. Another method is to chlorinate by hexanone and hydrogen chloride in the presence of an oxidant, followed by acidification to obtain the target product.
Safety information: S-(-)-2-chloropropionic acid is irritating and should be avoided in contact with skin and eyes. Appropriate protective equipment, such as gloves and goggles, should be worn when operating. Store in an airtight place, away from fire and oxidants.
