Introduction
Sudan B is a synthetic organic dye with the chemical name Sauermann Red G. It belongs to the azo group of dyes and has an orange-red crystalline powdery substance.
Sudan B is almost insoluble in water, but has good solubility in organic solvents. It has good lightfastness and boil resistance and can be used to dye materials such as textiles, paper, leather and plastics.
The preparation method of Sudan B is relatively simple, and a common method is to react dinitronaphthalene with 2-aminobenzaldehyde, and obtain pure products through process steps such as reduction and recrystallization.
Although Sudan B is widely used in the dyeing industry, it is toxic and carcinogenic. High ingestion of Sudan B may cause damage to the human body, such as toxic effects on the liver and kidneys.
