Introduction
Nonyl acetate is an organic compound.
Nonyl acetate has the following properties:
- Colorless or yellowish liquid in appearance with a fruity aroma;
- It has low vapor pressure and volatility at room temperature, and can be volatilized quickly;
- Soluble in organic solvents such as alcohols, aldehydes, and lipids.
Key uses for nonyl acetate include:
- As a plasticizer for coatings, inks and adhesives, it can improve the softness and ductility of products;
- As an insecticide, it is used in agriculture to control insects and pests.
There are two main ways to prepare nonyl acetate:
1. Nonyl acetate is obtained by the reaction of nonanol and acetic acid;
2. Nonyl acetate is synthesized by the esterification reaction of nonanoic acid and ethanol.
Safety information for nonyl acetate:
- Nonyl acetate is mildly irritating and may have an irritating effect on the eyes and skin;
- Wear appropriate protective equipment such as gloves, face shields, etc. when using nonyl acetate;
- Avoid contact with vapors of nonyl acetate and avoid inhalation;
- In case of accidental ingestion or inhalation, seek medical attention immediately.
