Introduction

Muskone, chemically known as 2,2,6-trimethyl-4-piperidone, is a colorless crystalline solid.

There are various methods of muskone in chemical synthesis, one of the common methods is to react 4-piperidone with ether, and N-alkylation reaction occurs under alkaline conditions to obtain muskone. Other methods include synthesis by methylation or acetic anhydride condensation.

Muskone is widely used in the perfume industry to add aroma and persistence to products.

It is irritating to the skin and eyes, and contact with the skin, eyes, and respiratory tract should be avoided when using it. The workplace should be well ventilated. Store out of reach of children and pets.
