Citronellol. It is a colorless liquid with an aroma and is soluble in ester solvents, alcohol solvents, and water.
It can also be used as a fragrance additive to give the product aromatic properties. Citronellol can also be used as an ingredient in insect repellents and skin care products.
Citronellol can be prepared by a variety of methods, including natural extraction and chemical synthesis. It can be extracted from plants such as lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus) and can also be synthesized from other compounds through synthesis reactions.
It is a flammable liquid and should be kept away from open flames and high temperatures. When in contact with the skin and eyes, it may cause irritation and allergic reactions, and safety gloves and goggles need to be worn during operation. Citronellol is toxic to aquatic life and should be avoided for discharge into water bodies.
