Introduction
Butyl isobutyrate. Its properties are as follows:
Physical properties: Butyl isobutyrate is a colorless liquid with a fruity taste at room temperature.
Chemical properties: butyl isobutyrate has good solubility and good solubility in organic solvents. It has the reactivity of esters and can be hydrolyzed into isobutyric acid and butanol.
Usage: Butyl isobutyrate is widely used in industrial and chemical laboratories. It can be used as a volatile agent in solvents, coatings and inks, and as a plasticizer for plastics and resins.
Preparation method: Generally, butyl isobutyrate is prepared by esterification reaction of isobutanol and butyric acid under acid-catalyzed conditions. The reaction temperature is generally 120-140°C, and the reaction time is about 3-4 hours.
It can be irritating to the eyes and skin and should be rinsed with plenty of water immediately after contact. During operation, good ventilation conditions should be ensured. It should be kept away from children and combustible materials and stored properly in an airtight container. When handling and disposing of, it should be handled in accordance with local regulatory requirements.
