Dilute the reaction with ether (100 mL), separate the water layer, and extract the organic layer with saturated NaHCO3 aqueous solution (2 × 40 mL). The mixed water layer was acidified with 1M KHSO4 to pH 1 and extracted with ethyl acetate (2×200 mL). The organic layers are combined, dried (Na2SO4), filtered and concentrated. The resulting product was identified as BOC-N-methyl-L-alanine. Butter, yield 4.3g, 80%. |
