Introduction
Solvent Black 5 is an organic synthetic dye, also known as Sudan Black B or Sudan Black. Solvent Black 5 is a black, powdery solid that is soluble in solvents.
Solvent black 5 is mainly used as a dye and indicator. It is often used to dye polymer materials such as plastics, textiles, inks, and glues to give them a black color. It can also be used as a stain in biomedical and histopathology to stain cells and tissues for microscopic observation.
The preparation of solvent black 5 can be carried out by the synthesis reaction of Sudan black. Sudan black is a complex of Sudan 3 and Sudan 4, which can be treated and purified to obtain solvent black 5.
Wear appropriate protective gloves and masks when using to avoid accidental ingestion. Solvent Black 5 should be placed in a dry, cool, well-ventilated place to avoid contact with oxidants and strong acids.
