Introduction

Biphenybenzophenone (also known as benzophenone or diphenylketone) is an organic compound. It is white crystalline at room temperature and has a special aromatic odor.

 

One of the main uses of biphenybenzophenone is as an important reagent in organic synthesis. Biphenybenzophenone can also be used as a fluorescent reagent and laser dye.

 

The preparation of biphenybenzophenone can be synthesized by a Grignard reaction using acetophenone and phenyl magnesium halides. The reaction conditions of this method are mild and the yield is high.

It is flammable and contact with fire sources should be avoided. When operating, the necessary safety measures should be taken, such as wearing chemical protective glasses and gloves, and ensuring good ventilation. Most importantly, biphenybenzophenone should be stored in a dry, cool, ventilated place, away from fire and oxidants.
