4-Nitrophenol(CAS#100-02-7)
quality
Light yellow crystals, odorless. Slightly soluble in water at room temperature (1.6%, 250 °C). Soluble in ethanol, chlorophenol, ether. Soluble in carbonate solutions of caustic and alkali metals and yellow. It is flammable, and there is a risk of combustion explosion in case of open flame, high heat or contact with oxidant. The toxic ammonia oxide flue gas is released by the heating separation.
Method
It is prepared by nitrification of phenol into o-nitrophenol and p-nitrophenol, and then separating o-nitrophenol by steam distillation, and can also be hydrolyzed from p-chloronitrobenzene.
use
Used as a leather preservative. It is also a raw material for the manufacture of dyes, drugs, etc., and can also be used as a pH indicator for monochrome, with a color change range of 5.6~7.4, changing from colorless to yellow.
security
Mouse and rat oral LD50: 467mg/kg, 616mg/kg. Poisonous! It has a strong irritating effect on the skin. It can be absorbed through the skin and respiratory tract. Animal experiments can cause increased body temperature and liver and kidney damage. It should be stored separately from oxidants, reducing agents, alkalis, and edible chemicals, and should not be mixed.
