3-(p-cumenyl)propionaldehyde(CAS#7775-00-0)
Introduction
4-(1-Methylethyl)phenylpropionaldehyde is an organic compound. The following is an introduction to the properties, uses, preparation methods and safety information of the compound:
Quality:
- Appearance: 4-(1-methylethyl)phenylpropional is a colorless to light yellow liquid.
- Solubility: It can be soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol, ether and chloroform, but insoluble in water.
- Isomers: 4-(1-methylethyl)phenylpropionaldehyde has two stereoisomers, (R)- and (S)-4-(1-methylethyl)phenylpropional.
Use:
- Chemical synthesis: 4-(1-methylethyl)phenylpropionaldehyde can be used as an intermediate in organic synthesis for the preparation of other organic compounds.
- Fragrance and flavor industry: It has a strong odor and is widely used in the fragrance and flavor industry, and is often used to blend roses, flowers and other fragrances.
Method:
4-(1-Methylethyl)phenylpropional is generally synthesized from phenylacetone. First, phenylacetone is reacted with pyridine to produce 4-pyridylphenylpropionone, and then esterification is carried out using acetic anhydride/methyl acetophenone solution to generate 4-(1-methylethyl)phenylpropanol. 4-(1-methylethyl)phenylpropanol is converted to 4-(1-methylethyl)phenylpropionaldehyde by oxidative carboxylation.
Safety Information:
- 4-(1-methylethyl)phenylpropional is stable and non-flammable, but it needs to be kept away from open flames and high temperatures.
- Contact with oxidants should be avoided during handling and storage to avoid dangerous reactions.
- Wear appropriate protective equipment, such as chemical goggles, gloves, and a lab coat, to prevent skin and eye contact.
- In case of skin contact or inhalation of gas, rinse with water and seek medical attention. If swallowed, seek medical attention immediately.
