Its properties, 2-(methylthio)thiazole is a weak alkaline substance, soluble in acidic solution, slightly soluble in water, soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol and ether. It has a certain volatile and pungent odor.
The main uses of 2-(methio)thiazole include:
Pesticides: It is an important ingredient in some fungicides and insecticides that are used to protect crops and plants from diseases and pests.
There are generally two common methods for the preparation of 2-(methylthio)thiazole:
Synthesis method 1: 2-(methylthio)thiazole is obtained by the reaction of methylthiomalonic acid and thiourea.
Synthesis method 2: 2-(methylthio)thiazole is obtained by the reaction of benzoacetonitrile and thioacetic acid amine.
Its safety information: 2-(methylthio)thiazole is generally relatively safe under reasonable use and correct storage conditions. As a chemical, it is still somewhat toxic and irritating. Skin contact and inhalation of gases should be avoided during use. Personal protective equipment such as protective gloves, goggles, and respirators must be used. Chemicals should be properly stored and disposed of, and relevant safe operating procedures should be followed. Please read and follow the product’s Safety Data Sheet (SDS) and guidelines before use.
