Method:

2-Amino-3,5-dibromo-4-methylpyridine can be synthesized by the following steps:

3,5-dibromopyridine and methylpyruvate are reacted under alkaline conditions to form 2-bromo-3,5-dimethylpyridine.

2-Bromo-3,5-dimethylpyridine is reacted with ammonia in chloroform to produce 2-amino-3,5-dimethylpyridine.

2-amino-3,5-dimethylpyridine is reacted with hydrogen bromide to form 2-amino-3,5-dibromo-4-methylpyridine.
