Introduction
1-Methylxanthine is an organic compound. It is stable at room temperature but decomposes in the presence of high temperatures, high pressure, light, and oxygen.1-Methylxanthine is a widely used compound. It is one of the main metabolites of caffeine and a commonly used biomarker. It can also be used to determine caffeine intake and to estimate the rate at which caffeine is metabolized in the body. There are several ways to prepare 1-methylxanthine. A commonly used method is to react xanthine with methyl iodide. The reaction is usually carried out under alkaline conditions, and the reactants are added to the alkaline carbonate solution, which is heated to obtain the product of 1-methylxanthine.Safety should be taken when using, storing, and handling 1-methylxanthine. It is a combustible substance and avoids contact with open flames and high temperatures. Care should be taken to prevent inhalation and contact with the skin, eyes and mucous membranes during the procedure. Wear protective glasses and gloves if necessary to ensure well-ventilated experimental conditions. When storing, it should be sealed and protected from light, away from fire sources and oxidants. If there is a leak, it should be removed with an appropriate adsorbent or solvent to avoid entering the water source and sewer.
